Putin says cryptocurrency holds future, but too risky

MOSCOW, Nov 30 (PRIME) – The future may lie with the cryptocurrency although its use is too risky since it is secured by nothing, President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday at the Russia Calling! forum.

“Some countries use the cryptocurrency, while others ban it, I think that it is forbidden in China and some other countries, but it is secured by nothing, its volatility is colossal, and risks are very high,” Putin said.

“We also think we should listen to those who speak about the serious risks. But, certainly, some countries, some economies use cryptocurrencies on a wider and wider scale, maybe, it is the future, but we should watch closely how this process will evolve.”
